Eat Dessert First!

February 9 from 3 -5pm in the Wesley Hall there will be special treats for all who attend.  For your pleasure there not only will be many kinds of sweet goodies but also fruit plates, delicious sugarless samples, hardy appetizers such as egg rolls and meatballs, and a chocolate fountain for dipping strawberries.

Some of the great items for bid at the silent auction are a week-end at Bill and Dorothy Bizzini’s home at Aptos on the coast, dinner at Jim and Gwen Marshall’s home, a family home game night including a pizza, a lovely picture, a wheat weaving, a chance to have Joel Shade come to your home to play your piano for an hour, income tax preparation and many other things.

There will be a time for an update on what is going on with the Wesley program at UC Merced as well as exciting pans for the future.  Entertainment will start at 3:45.  Pastor Jamie Michaels and Wesley student Karlyn Rahmgren will play their guitars and sing some harmony for us.  Our music director, Joel Shade will accompany his talented wife Nancy O’Bryan as she serenades us.

This evening gives you an opportunity to support Wesley Campus Ministry in a delightful way as you enjoy some time with friends you have known as well as add new friends to your list.

Tickets may be purchased from Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry Board members, Barbara Cameron, Larry Hall, Jim Marshall, Rachel Trumm,Donna Hall or at the Church Office.  They are $10.00 if purchased before the occasion or $12.00 at the door.

Service Auction in the Works

Two years ago our church held this fundraising event, and it was such a great success . . . we’re planning to do it again!! Lots of fun, lots of fellowship, and lots of money raised to support our church’s missions both here and around the world.  Start thinking now, brainstorm, plan ahead.  What can you offer as a service to the auction?  Some favorites from before included baking, preparing a meal, lessons, vacation stays, driving, house cleaning, sewing, yard work, tax preparation, car maintenance, face painting, and much more.  Be creative and imagine something you can do or make or offer (for free) that others would bid on and money goes directly to the church.  For more information, to offer your service to offer to help in the many ways that will be needed contact Joyce & Larry via email at umclarry@sbcglobal.net , Mike & Kelly at kellybentz@sbcglobal.net or Jim & Gwen at bagpipemarshall@comcast.net.  The date is yet to be determined.

D Street Shelter Meal for the Homeless

October is fast approaching and the is a need for “a team” to feed the clients, normally around 40, at the homeless shelter on Wednesday, October 16 at 6:00pm.  By your actions, this is a way to commit to Christ to be that channel of God’s love in your community.  When you have decided on a menu we can check to see if there are items here you can use or obtain the items you need.  Otherwise this meal is a gift from your team to the homeless at the shelter that evening.  If October doesn’t work for you, then pick another month to be of service.  The sign-up sheet is on the shelf in the Fireside Room.  For more information contact the Church Office at 722-5777.
