Over the years we have had some very forward thinking people who have endowed the church with money or established a memorial to provide funds for scholarship to help our youth attend college.  For the 2018-2019 school year we helped 11 of our students with a total of $10,000 worth of scholarships.

Annual Charge Conference

Annual Charge Conference – Thursday, December 6, at 6:30PM.  Once a year, our church officers, members, and guests gather to vote on official administrative items central to every United Methodist Church.  (Only official members @UMCMerced may vote.)  At the meeting, we ratify the Board of Trustees, elect leadership officers, approve the pastor’s compensation, and recommend lay servants.  This meeting demonstrates our shared connection to the administrative ministries of our United Methodist Annual Conference and the global UMC.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Service Auction & Potluck

Our Potluck Service Auction is almost here!  Come join us for food and fun next Sunday, October 28 in the Wesley Hall after worship around 11:15.  Everyone is invited to help make this fundraiser a success!  Drop off your potluck dish or auction dessert in the Wesley Hall before worship and pick up your auction paddle.  Contact Denise at 209 605-3164 with questions.

Save Your Change

Love INC (In the Name of Christ) will be holding their annual Change a Life campaign throughout the month of October.  Fill up a “cash cube” from the fireside room and return it to the church by November 18.  The campaign benefits under-resourced and in-need families in greater Merced.

Recycling Challenge

The United Methodist Women are engaged in a recycling challenge and we need your help!  Now through November 30, bring your California cash recyclables to UMCMerced.  The UMW will then redeem them with all money going to support a local nonprofit.  The chapter that wins this chalenge gets “Go Green” bragging rights for the next year!  For  more information, see Amanda Fong or Nancy Reding.

World Day of Prayer

Church Women United in the Merced area will observe World Day of Prayer on Thursday, March 1st from 10am – 12pm at the The Salvation Army, 1440 W 12th St, Merced.

The host country for WDP 2018 is Suriname.  The theme for the worship service urges us to evaluate how our actions affect our planet – one of our Lord’s greatest creations.

To recycle is to give a new use to objects, thus reducing the consumption of resources that may degrade the planet.  We may use the way we do WDP activities to educate and campaign for climate  justice.  Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Bring a friend.  Refreshments will be available.  Free will offering.
